Observe Sea of Japan fish at an octagonal aquarium jutting into the sea
About this spot
An old-fashioned, warm-feeling aquarium museum with a distinctive octagonal building projecting out into the sea. It displays about 300 species of aquatic life, centered on fish from the Sea of Japan. You can observe up close the very fish you just saw at the market swimming in the tanks. Feeding demonstrations by staff are popular, and the compact, child-eye-level museum layout is easy to navigate even with small children. The rooftop offers a sweeping panorama of the Sea of Japan.
Tips
The compact interior is easy to navigate with a stroller. Check the posted schedule for feeding demonstrations when you enter. On clear days, don't miss the view from the rooftop observation area.
Best time to visit
Allow about 1.5 hours. Early afternoon is less crowded with tour groups, offering a calm viewing experience
