About this spot

A hall standing on the bluff of Bangami Misaki, overlooking the sea at Kashiwazaki, known as a sacred site connected to Saint Nichiren. The intricate wood carvings covering the hall are well worth seeing, beautiful enough to make you want to look closely. The horizon of the Sea of Japan stretches out widely from the grounds, and on clear days you can even see distant Sado Island. It's the perfect spot to pray together for a safe journey at the start of your drive.

Tips

There's a slope and stone steps leading to the grounds, so wear comfortable walking shoes. There's parking space nearby. The beach just below at Bangami gets crowded with swimmers in summer, so mornings are reassuring if you want a calm visit. Admission is free.

Best time to visit

Allow about 1 hour. In the morning, the light comes from behind you, making the sea look beautiful.
