A roughly 4-minute aerial walk with a panoramic view of the Nagara River and Gifu's townscape from the gondola
About this spot
A ropeway connecting the foot-of-mountain station in Gifu Park with the mountain-top station on Mount Kinkazan in approximately 4 minutes. As the gondola ascends, the gentle flow of the Nagara River and Gifu's townscape spread out expansively below, offering a greatly satisfying aerial walk even for such a brief ride. It's wonderful that families with children can easily reach the mountain top, which would normally take about an hour on foot. The mountain-top station area has observation spots and a shop, providing a convenient rest stop before heading to the keep.
Tips
Purchasing a round-trip ticket makes the return journey smoother. Operates at approximately 15-minute intervals, with increased frequency during peak seasons. Strollers can be placed in the gondola, but from the mountain-top station to the keep there are stairs and slopes, so it's safer to leave the stroller at the foot or switch to a baby carrier. Standing on the window side offers better views of the descending landscape.
Best time to visit
Approximately 30 minutes (including wait time). Morning air is clear and the views are beautiful.
