Check Current Information and Sea Views at the Peninsula Drive's Starting Point
About this spot
A rest stop in Ikata Town located along National Route 197, nicknamed the Sada Misaki Melody Line, at the base of the Sada Misaki peninsula. Inside the facility are local shirasu processed products and citrus juices and other specialty items, and you can also gather tourist information about the peninsula. From the observation floor, you can see the Seto Inland Sea and the windmills lined up on the ridge all at once. For a drive across the Sada Misaki peninsula, which stretches about 40 km in a narrow line, it's recommended to grasp the overall picture here before setting out. With a citrus juice from Ikata purchased at the shop in hand, slowly savor the view at the start of your journey.
Tips
The parking lot is spacious and easy to use from the morning, but it gets crowded around midday on holidays. It's helpful to check the condition of the footpath to the Sada Misaki Lighthouse and road information for the peninsula at the facility so the rest of your itinerary goes smoothly.
Best time to visit
Plan for about 40 minutes. In the morning, the observation floor faces the light well, making the Seto Inland Sea and windmills visible clearly.
