The Birthplace of Rotating Sōmen Noodles in a Springwater Valley

About this spot

Known as the birthplace of "rotating sōmen noodles" where noodles swirl round and round in a countertop vessel, this is Ibusuki's signature dining destination. Clear springwater gushing from the deep green valley is refreshingly cold, creating an oasis of coolness even in midsummer. The cold springwater flows through rotating dishes where noodles are released, and the excitement of catching swirling sōmen with chopsticks captivates both adults and children. The standard meal features grilled trout, carp soup, and rice balls, served while overlooking the valley's trees for an incomparably delicious experience. The springs here make it possible to enjoy sōmen noodles year-round, which is delightful.

Tips

Expect long lines during summer vacation and weekends at lunch time. During peak seasons, arriving early is a must. A ticket system is used, so having cash is convenient. Though shaded by valley trees, a light cardigan is recommended even in summer for comfort. At waterside seating, your feet may get wet, so wear practical shoes.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. Arriving early before noon, before the queues form, ensures a more comfortable experience.
