A cape protruding from the northernmost point of Okinawa's main island, where waves from the Pacific Ocean and East China Sea crash against uplifted coral reef cliffs. The panoramic view spreads across the entire horizon from the observation plaza, and on clear days, the silhouette of Yoron Island in Kagoshima Prefecture may float in the distance across the sea. A monument commemorating the land return struggle stands at the cape, and alongside the majestic scenery, you can also touch upon Okinawa's history. The observation center features a cafe and shop, perfect for a brief rest or light lunch while enjoying the spectacular view. White waves breaking against the cliffs and an endless horizon—the grand ocean landscape that can only be experienced by visiting the northernmost point of the main island.
Tips
The area around the cape is exposed with no shelter, and windy days are common, so be careful not to lose your hat. View the cape from within the safety barriers. The observation center cafe has limited seating, so during busy times, consider getting takeout and enjoying your meal on an outdoor bench while gazing at the sea.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour. Clear days during daylight hours when the air is crisp and Yoron Island is visible are ideal.
