A leading cultural facility representing Kurume City, comprising a vast park and art museum donated to the city by Bridgestone founder Ishibashi Shojiro. The grounds feature a fountain plaza, rose garden, Japanese garden, and walking paths lined with Western sculptures, with plenty of shade and relatively cool paths even in summer. The permanent exhibition at the Ishibashi Art Museum (now Kurume City Art Museum) is also worth viewing. Being a large green space with free admission, it's a joy for families with children who can run freely. On the day of the fireworks festival, this is an ideal starting point to relax and acclimate your body at a leisurely pace.

2026年8月5日(水)19時40分開始、筑後川の河川敷から打ち上がる約12,000発の花火が1時間にわたって夜空を飾ります。篠山会場・京町会場ほか計6会場が同時進行する大規模な大会で、各会場から異なるアングルで楽しめるのが筑後川花火大会の大きな特徴です。スターマイン、尺玉、仕掛け花火と多彩なプログラムが続き、筑後川の広い水面に映る逆さ花火の美しさも見逃せません。九州最大級規模のフィナーレは連続打ち上げが夜空を埋め尽くし、大きな川音と花火の轟音が体に響く迫力は、ほかの花火大会では味わえないスケールです。

Tips

荒天時の開催可否は大会公式の発表を当日確認してください。終了直後は帰宅客が一斉に動き出し、西鉄久留米駅・JR久留米駅周辺が大変混み合います。フィナーレ後しばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから、時間差での帰宅がおすすめ。帰り道の河川敷は照明が少ない箇所があるため、スマートフォンのライトを活用して安全に移動しましょう。

Tips

Approximately 15 minutes on foot from Nishi-Tetsukurume Station, or take a bus to "Cultural Center" stop. Admission free (art museum requires separate admission fee). Vending machines and benches are available in the gardens for hydration during your walk. For lunch, use the on-site shop or head back toward the station area to enjoy shops in the shopping streets.
