The memorial museum, housed in a restored grand mansion of the former Tsushima family built in 1907 (Meiji 40), showcases a blend of Japanese and Western architecture and conveys Tsugaru's rich agricultural culture through its expansive grounds. The museum spans 19 rooms across two floors, totaling over 400 tsubo (approximately 1,320 square meters), displaying Dazai's handwritten manuscripts, personal belongings, and period household items. Even those unfamiliar with literature can fully appreciate the atmosphere of the era. The view of Mt. Iwaki in the distance beyond the building's exterior and gardens possesses the quiet beauty characteristic of Tsugaru. Tips

荒天・強風時は中止または順延の場合があります。開催可否は五所川原市の公式発表で当日確認してください。終了後は市街地・駐車場へ向かう人で大変混み合います。花火終了後はしばらく河川敷で余韻を楽しんでから移動すると、混雑を多少緩和できます。帰りの車・バスの時刻は事前に確認しておきましょう。

Tips

About a 20-minute drive from downtown Goshogawara; a 7-minute walk from Kanagi Station on Tsugaru Railway. Admission is 600 yen for adults (check the official website). Some areas in the museum prohibit photography—follow the guidance provided. To make it in time for the fireworks festival, plan to depart around 4:15 PM and return to downtown Goshogawara.
