Maeda Forest Park (前田森林公園)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A large forest park in Maeda, Teine-ku, and one of the landmarks of Sapporo. At its center runs a straight waterway called the canal, and the rows of poplars along both sides, with Mt. Teine (手稲山) standing directly ahead, compose a scene like a single painting. Go up to the observation lounge and you can take in that view from above. There are plenty of lawns and shaded spots, making it well suited to spreading out a sheet and eating lunch. The park is large, so simply walking gives everyone plenty of exercise, which is welcome when you have children along.

Tips

The canal is a waterway, not for swimming. Save getting into the water for the afternoon water play area. Parts of the park are large and offer little shelter from the sun, so be sure to bring a hat and drinks. Check the observation lounge's hours on the information signs on site.

Best time to visit

About 2 hours 15 minutes. In the morning there is less backlight, so the canal and the mountain look their best
