Shikokuchuo City is one of Japan's leading paper-producing areas, and the Paper Town Museum introduces its history and techniques. Displays follow the process from raw material to a single sheet of paper, alongside tools used in the past, and everyday items such as tissues and paper products suddenly connect to where they come from. On some days you can try hand-scooping washi, and shaking the bamboo screen in a vat of water is an unforgettable experience for a child. The air-conditioned interior also makes it a reliable refuge during the hottest hours. The chimneys you saw from the castle in the morning take on real meaning here, and that connection is the aim of this course.
Tips
The dates, reception times and fees for the hand-scooping experience may change, so please inquire in advance to confirm. Please view the exhibits quietly. There are restaurants in the surrounding town center, so finishing lunch before or after your visit leaves the afternoon relaxed.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 45 minutes. You can combine the visit and lunch in one stop
