Pray for a safe trip at a hilltop hall overlooking the sea
About this spot
An old hall connected with the Nichiren sect (日蓮宗), standing on a cape overlooking the Kashiwazaki (柏崎) coastline. It is a place of note where Nichiren is said to have stopped on his way into exile on Sado (佐渡), and its appeal lies in sweeping views of the Sea of Japan (日本海) from the grounds. It is a short walk along the shore from the aquarium, and a spell spent looking down from the high ground at the sea you are about to swim in makes a fitting close to the morning's stroll. The stone steps and grounds have plenty of shade, making it an easy place to catch your breath even in the summer sun.

柏崎市街地からほど近い、みなとまち海浜公園内に広がる海水浴場です。2026年は7月5日(日)から8月16日(日)まで、監視員配置日に限り9時から16時まで開設されます。脱衣所は2箇所、シャワーとトイレも公園内に備わっており、着替えや汗を流す設備が整っているのが安心なポイントです。遊泳は無料、駐車料金も無料なので、家族連れが気軽に立ち寄れる海水浴場として親しまれています。売店は併設されていないため、飲み物や軽食は事前に準備しておくのがおすすめです。波打ち際の水遊びや砂遊びをしながら、午後のひとときを海辺でゆったり過ごしましょう。
Tips
監視員配置日限定の開設なので、訪れる前に開設日を確認しておくと安心です。売店がないため、飲み物・軽食・日除けは事前に用意を。脱衣所は2箇所のみのため、混雑する時間帯は着替えに少し時間がかかることも想定しておきましょう。営業終了は16時なので、片付けと着替えの時間を見込んで15分前には切り上げるのがおすすめです。
Tips
Within walking distance of the aquarium along the shore. There are steps up to the grounds, so with a stroller it is also fine to enjoy the sea view from near the entrance rather than pushing on. The summer sun is strong, so do not forget a hat and plenty to drink.
Best time to visit
About 45 minutes. Mornings see fewer visitors, so you can pray in peace
