Visit the shrine dedicated to the Nichiren Saint on Bangami Peninsula

A shrine located on the Bangami Peninsula, historically believed to be the site where the Nichiren Saint first landed after returning from Sado. From the elevated promontory, expansive views of the Japan Sea and Sado Island stretch before you, with historic shrine buildings standing in the compound. Before heading to swim, this is an ideal stop where families can offer prayers for safe travels while gazing out at the sea.

Venue: 柏崎市・番神・西番神海水浴場
柏崎市の番神海水浴場と西番神海水浴場が隣接する海岸で、2026年は7月5日(日)から8月16日(日)まで開設、遊泳時間は9時から16時までです。監視員の配置は7月11日(土)から8月16日(日)の指定日のみとなるため、あわせて確認しておくと安心です。浜辺には浜茶屋が計6軒並び、脱衣所とシャワーは浜茶屋を利用する際に使えるほか、西番神には常設のシャワーが1箇所あります。トイレは常設で1箇所用意されています。波の穏やかな砂浜で、波打ち際の水遊びから砂遊びまで、夕方近くまでたっぷり楽しめます。
Tips
監視員配置日は指定日のみのため、家族で泳ぐ際は無理のない範囲で楽しみましょう。脱衣所・シャワーは浜茶屋の利用が前提のため、利用予定のお店を先に決めておくとスムーズです。トイレは1箇所のみなので、混雑する時間帯は早めに済ませておくと安心です。遊泳は16時までなので、着替えの時間を見込んで15時45分頃には切り上げましょう。
Tips
Located within walking distance from Shoyuzan-so. Sloped paths lead to the promontory, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The viewpoint offers a photogenic view of the Japan Sea.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 45 minutes. Mid-morning when sunlight is gentle offers the best time for worship
