Hakone-en is an area facing Hakone-en Bay, the venue for the fireworks display, with well-equipped restaurants and shops. As evening falls, the area gradually becomes bustling with people securing viewing spots, allowing you to wait for the start while enjoying dinner at a leisurely pace. The high-altitude lakeshore of Lake Ashi is refreshingly cool even in midsummer, offering a pleasant night unique to this mountain-cradled lake.
Tips
Approximately 10 minutes by car from Hakone Shrine. Nights can get colder than expected, so don't forget a jacket. The surrounding area has sections with minimal lighting, so a flashlight is reassuring.
Best time to visit
Approximately 3 hours 15 minutes required. Please enjoy the changing colors of the lake surface at dusk.
