仙台の夏を彩る東北三大祭りのひとつで、2026年は8月6日から8日までの3日間開催されます。中心部の商店街アーケード通りを中心に、色とりどりの和紙と吹き流しで飾られた巨大な七夕飾りが頭上いっぱいに掲げられ、通りを歩くだけで祭りの華やかさを体感できます。仙台七夕まつりは仙台市の中心市街地一帯を舞台に、江戸時代から続く伝統と現代の装飾が融合した独特の光景を作り出します。初日から多くの人出でにぎわい、夜には飾りに灯りがともり、昼とはまた違った幻想的な雰囲気に包まれます。
Tips
初日・週末は非常に混雑するため、ベビーカーでの移動は人の少ない通りを選ぶのが安心です。アーケード内は屋根があるので小雨でも楽しめますが、蒸し暑さがこもりやすいので飲み物は多めに。周辺は交通規制がかかることがあるので、公共交通機関の利用がおすすめです。
Tips
On the way from Osaki Hachimangu Shrine by bus toward Sendai Station, you can easily stop by. Benches are scattered along the tree-lined street, making it easy to walk with breaks in between. The late afternoon sun is blocked by the trees, making it a relatively comfortable time to walk.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes. Late afternoon when the sun is softer is most comfortable for walking.
