About this spot

This is a visitor facility opened by Makurazaki's leading authentic shochu maker, making use of a historic distillery building dating back to the Meiji era. Following the process from brewing to storage, you can learn about the history of shochu-making rooted in the climate and culture of southern Satsuma. The building also houses a direct-sales shop offering souvenirs and limited products, so the whole family can enjoy the atmosphere of the distillery. Another nice point is that visiting in the morning before the festival tends to be relatively calm.

Tips

Please follow the on-site guidance for the tour route and timing. Minors, of course, cannot take part in tastings, but there are also non-alcoholic products and snacks that children can enjoy. Wear comfortable walking shoes inside the building.
