This large building combines a Kameoka City lifelong-learning facility with a roadside station, and local people gather here as part of daily life. The farmers' market corner is lined with summer vegetables brought in by nearby farms, and just seeing a lineup different from the supermarkets of central Kyoto is enjoyable. There are places to eat inside, so families find it convenient to finish lunch right after shopping. With a spacious lobby and hall, it is also a good space to rest out of the sun. Getting your meal and drink restocking done here in one go, ready for the afternoon in the water, keeps you moving lightly.

Tips

Checking the opening hours and the days the farmers' market is held in the facility's information in advance is the sure approach. It can get crowded at midday, so shifting your timing a little earlier makes it easier to get a seat. Leave the vegetables and ingredients you buy in the car until you head home, or bring a cooler bag to be safe. From JR Kameoka Station you get here by local bus or car.
