About this spot

Onaka Ruins Park (大中遺跡公園) is a place where the remains of a settlement from the end of the Yayoi period have been laid out as a park just as they were. Reconstructed pit dwellings stand dotted across the lawn and you can walk freely among them, so you get the experience of standing inside the scenery you saw in textbooks. Outdoors at the Harima Town Folk Museum (播磨町郷土資料館) within the grounds, a carriage from the Beppu Railway (別府鉄道) that once ran through this town is preserved, and it is the spot where train-loving children stop in their tracks. The joy of visiting these two places together is being able to walk while imagining what kind of houses the tools you saw in the museum were actually used in. Nozoekita Park (野添北公園) is a few minutes away by car.

野添北公園はだかの池は、加古郡播磨町の野添北公園にある、水遊びのできる人工の池です。公園そのものは1月1日(木)から12月31日(木)まで常時開放されていますが、水遊びが楽しめるのは主に夏のあいだで、開設期間や時間は公表されていません。そのため、出かける前に町の案内で状況を確かめるか、水が張られているかを確認してから向かうと確実です。同じ公園の中には複合遊具のある「ちびっこ広場」と芝生広場「はだしの森」が併設されているので、水に飽きたら遊具、体が冷えたら芝生と、遊び方を切り替えながら長い時間を過ごせます。料金は無料で、まわりは住宅地なので、日常の延長として気軽に立ち寄れるのがこの公園らしさです。

Tips

開設状況が公表されていないため、空振りを避けたいときは町へ問い合わせてから出かけてください。着替えの設備は限られるので、水着は服の下に着ていき、バスタオルを一枚多めに持っていくと困りません。ぬれた服を入れるビニール袋を人数分用意しておくと帰りが快適です。遊具は日ざしで熱くなることがあるので、触って確かめてから遊ばせましょう。日ざしの強い時間帯は木陰で休憩をはさみ、こまめに水分をとらせてください。

Tips

Admission is free. The lawn area has little to block the sun, so always carry a hat and drinks. Follow the on-site signs for how far you may enter the reconstructed dwellings. Checking the folk museum's opening days and hours with the town's information service makes things certain.
