Gifu City Science Museum (岐阜市科学館)

About this spot

A hands-on science museum run by Gifu City, with a great many exhibits you can touch and move with your own hands. You can check out how force, light and sound work while playing, so even children too young to follow the theory can enjoy it fully. There is a planetarium inside, and if the show times line up you can sit and cool off while looking at the starry sky. Unlike the art museum, the atmosphere here allows raising your voice and moving around, which switches children's mood. It is also just right as a warm-up stop before the afternoon water play.

岐阜市早田地区の光公園(光町3丁目9)にある、無料で利用できる水遊び場「光公園徒渉池(児童用プール)」です。2026年は7月21日から8月15日までのうち計18日間、13時から16時まで開設されます。水深が浅いので、まだ泳げない小さな子どもでも自分の足で歩きながら水に親しめます。対象は原則として小学3年生以下で、未就学児は保護者同伴、おむつのとれない幼児は利用できません。開設日は岐阜市の日程表のとおりで、悪天候のときは赤旗が掲げられて中止になります。屋内で静かに過ごした午前のあと、思いきり声を出して遊べる時間です。

Tips

利用は無料です。当日の実施可否は現地の旗で確認できます(赤旗は中止の合図)。水着を服の下に着ていくと、現地での着替えがスムーズです。日陰が限られるため、レジャーシートと多めの飲み物を持参してください。16時終了なので、15時45分ごろから片づけを始めましょう。

Tips

There is an admission fee, plus a separate fee for the planetarium. Prices, opening hours, closed days and show schedules may change, so check the official website. During the summer holidays there may also be special exhibitions and craft workshops. The air conditioning is strong, so a light layer makes it more comfortable.
