A museum on the theme of astronomy, on Mt. Chikurinji (竹林寺山) in Asakuchi City. It stands on a mountain that is home to one of Japan's leading observatories, and inside you can watch the starry sky projected in the planetarium and observe the sun through a telescope. Talking about stars in broad daylight, and being able to see the surface of the sun on top of that, is an experience children remember vividly. The exhibits introduce how the universe works and the history of observation in accessible terms, so no specialist knowledge is needed to enjoy them. Being up on a mountain, the road there and back also looks out over the Seto Inland Sea.

浅口市の「天草公園ジャブジャブ池噴水」は、ロケット広場の中にある水深10cmほどの浅い噴水池です。深さがほとんどないので、水に慣れていない小さな子でも自分の足で立って遊べ、初めての水遊びデビューにも向いています。噴水から降りかかるしぶきを浴びたり、水面をたたいて跳ね返りを楽しんだりと、遊び方は子ども次第。まわりには星と宇宙をテーマにした大型複合遊具が並んでいるので、体が冷えたらすぐに遊具へ移って乾かせます。利用は無料で、気軽に立ち寄れる浅口市の身近な水遊び場です。

2026年の開設期間は未発表です。2024年は6月29日から9月29日まで、10:00〜16:00の開設、月曜休(祝日は開設)でした。今年の日程と休みの曜日は出発前に浅口市の案内で確認してください。池の底は濡れるとすべりやすいので、脱げにくいサンダルかマリンシューズを履かせ、走らないよう声をかけましょう。日陰は木立に限られるため、こまめに休憩をはさんで水分をとってください。着替えとタオル、濡れた服を入れるビニール袋は人数分そろえておくと帰りが楽です。
