Hinata Miyazaki Prefectural Sports Park has generous lawn areas, with plenty of spots just right for spreading a sheet and eating a boxed lunch. Choose a place under a large tree and the breeze passes through, keeping you surprisingly cool even in midsummer. Because you can eat right beside the playground area with the splash pool, it is convenient to change into swimwear as soon as you finish and head straight for the water. There are vending machines in the park, so you can restock if you run short of drinks. After eating, rest a little and get ready for the afternoon water play.

Tips

Getting into the water right after eating can upset your stomach, so it is best to take about a 30-minute break before moving on to water play. Rubbish must generally be taken home, so bringing extra bags makes cleanup easier. On days with strong sun, claiming a shaded spot early keeps things comfortable.
