About this spot

Opened in Taisho 3 (1914), this is a French formal garden centered on a fountain pond. The park also has a rose garden, a tropical botanical greenhouse, and a workshop where you can try craft experiences; in autumn, the trees throughout the park turn color, making it a pleasant season for strolling. Since the park is built on a slope, the higher you climb, the more the view opens up over the town of Gora and the surrounding mountains. Admission is 650 yen for adults, free for elementary school students and younger. Open 9:00-17:00 (last entry 16:30).

Tips

Craft experiences such as glassblowing and kiriko cut-glass are popular, so if you want to try one, an early time slot is recommended. It's easier to keep moving if you have a light lunch at the park's cafe or shop before heading to the next stop.
