A seaside park preserving the battleship Mikasa, one of "the world's three famous memorial ships." Inside the ship, you can view the steering room and gun turrets, and standing on the deck puts you fully in a captain's mindset. The park also features a musical fountain and open spaces, so families can relax even without boarding the ship. The ferry departure point for Sarushima is conveniently located nearby.
Tips
Admission to the memorial ship Mikasa is free for elementary and middle school students—a great benefit! The ship has many steep stairs, so collapsible strollers and baby carriers are helpful.
Best time to visit
Allow 1 hour; visit early morning for fewer crowds
