Koma-sando (こま参道)
Flow of the course
About this spot
A stone-stepped approach road running from the Oyama Cable bus stop to Oyama Cable Station, named after the top (koma), a famous Oyama specialty. Souvenir shops, Oyama tofu restaurants, and manju (steamed bun) shops line both sides, making it perfect for snacking or having lunch as you climb. One fun activity is counting the top-shaped tiles embedded in the landings of the stairs with your kids as you go up.
Tips
Since the stone steps continue for a while, it's best to pack light. Having lunch along this approach road before continuing up will give you a more relaxed afternoon.
Best time to visit
Morning to midday
