Kowakidani Horai-en Garden (小涌谷蓬莱園)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A garden spanning about 5,000 tsubo (roughly 16,500 square meters) in Kowakidani (小涌谷), opened in the early Taisho era. Known as a famous spot for azaleas, it's also a great place to enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall. You can stroll freely through the grounds, and the spacious paths are easy to walk even with children - a nice touch. It's a relaxed, open garden, perfect as a warm-up before heading to Okada Museum of Art (岡田美術館).

Tips

Admission is free and you can stroll around freely. The flowering season (azaleas typically bloom in spring) is especially spectacular, but it's also pleasant to walk through in the green season.
