A Land Associated with the National Treasure Gold Seal, Overlooking Hakata Bay

A park developed on the seafront of Shikajima at the site where the national treasure seal "Han Wei Nu Guo Wang" (漢委奴国王) is said to have been discovered. According to tradition, the seal—familiar from textbooks—was found during agricultural work on this island long ago. The actual artifact is now housed in the Fukuoka City Museum. Within the park, you'll find a monument shaped like the gold seal and markers explaining its history. Climbing the tiered plaza to a high vantage point, you can look across Hakata Bay and take in Fukuoka's cityscape and Noko Island. Standing in this place, you can savor the ancient romance of people and culture exchanging across the sea. Admission is free, and it's an easy stop during your island drive.

Tips

Parking is limited, so please be considerate on crowded days. The park has stairs and slopes, so wear comfortable walking shoes.
