Next stop: See impressive warships on a 45-minute cruise with live commentary from expert guidesAbout this spot
A seaside park named after French engineer Verny. Beyond the Western-style garden where seasonal roses bloom, Yokosuka Main Harbor spreads out, offering close views of Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force escort vessels and submarines from the shore. The boardwalk is flat and easy to navigate with a stroller, making it perfect as a warm-up before the cruise.
Tips
Just a short walk from Shioisshi Station (汐入駅), and the military port cruise boarding area is adjacent. Children tend to get absorbed watching the ships along the fence, so allow extra time.
Best time to visit
Allow 30-40 minutes; early morning has fewer crowds and pleasant walking weather
